Rainbow Cake dan Ultah Dika




Kena penyakit latah nih ceritanya. Ini rainbow cake memang happening banget. Sudah lama ngamatin milis yang pada posting cerita rainbow ini. Sebetulnya gak tertarik, apa sih kue dikasih pewarna aja kok heboh banget. Lha, kan kita di Indonesah juga punya? xixixi...Tau dong, bolu kukus pelangi tiga warna yang melegenda. Apa bedanya? ya beda, jelas beda!. Itu kan cuma 3 warna yang ini kan 6 warna pake frosting lagih hahahaha...

Ow..ow...latahnya ditambah dikomporin sama foto pp temanku Mayasmita, Sisca-rainbow cake dibulatkan niat nyoba ini kueh..halah..beneran latah :D Mulai nyari di gugel, yang keluar resep legendaris Martha Stewart. Uniknya resep eyang Martha ini memakai putih telur saja. Ah iya, kebetulan banget ada order cupcakes ultah jadi sekalian bikin deh. Supaya gak bingung, aku coba 1 resep dulu, ternyata hasilnya bagus loh, ya sudah dilanjutkan sampai jumlah 35 cupcakes.


Resep RAINBOW CAKE

Ingredients

Vegetable shortening
3 cups all-purpose flour ------------------------------------------ aku pakai 390 gr tep.segitiga
4 teaspoons baking powder ------------------------------------------ 4 sdt BPDA
1/2 teaspoon salt ------------------------------------------------ 1/2 sdt garam halus
2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, room temp ---------------------- 226 gram unsalted butter
2 1/3 cups sugar-------------------------------------------------- 200 gram gula kastor
5 large egg whites, room temp ------------------------------------ 150 gr putih telur
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract --------------------------------- 2 sdt vanila pasta toffieco
1 1/2 cups milk, room temperature -------------------------------- 355 ml susu cair
Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple gel food coloring --- aku pakai trans + cross 10tetes

Lemony Swiss Meringue Buttercream -------------------------------- buttercream/whipkrim/cheese frosting, tergantung maunya apa hehehe

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brush six 9-inch-round cake pans (or as many 9-inch cake pans as you have, reusing them as necessary) with shortening. Line bottom of each cake pan with parchment paper; brush again and set aside.

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder and salt; set aside. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream together butter and sugar. Slowly add egg whites and mix until well combined. Add vanilla and mix until fully incorporated. Add flour mixture and milk in two alternating additions, beginning with the flour and ending with the milk. Mix until well combined.

Divide batter evenly between six medium bowls. Add enough of each color of food coloring to each bowl, whisking, until desired shade is reached. Transfer each color to an individual cake pan.
(aku bagi dengan menggunakan cup, per cup memakai 10 tetes warna antara trans dan cross, kalau perlu tambah pewarna wilton sedikit supaya cerah)

Transfer to oven and bake until a cake tester inserted into the center of each cake comes out clean, about 15 minutes (working in batches if necessary).

Remove cakes from oven and transfer to a wire rack; let cool for 10 minutes. Invert cakes onto a wire rack; re-invert and let cool completely.

Using a serrated knife, trim tops of cakes to make level. Place four strips of parchment paper around perimeter of a serving plate or lazy Susan. Place the purple layer on the cake plate. Spread a scant 1 cup buttercream filling over the first layer with a small offset spatula so it extends just beyond edges. Repeat process with blue, green, yellow, and orange layers.

Place the remaining red layer on top, bottom-side up. Gently sweep away any loose crumbs with a pastry brush. Using an offset spatula, cover the top and sides with a thin layer of frosting (also use any of the excess frosting visible between the layers). Refrigerate until set, about 30 minutes.
Using an offset spatula, cover cake again with remaining frosting.

Suka sama resep ini, hasilnya empuk dan menurutku teksturnya seperti kukus padahal kue ini jelas-jelas dipanggang. Aku tes nih cupcakesnya, aku taruh seminggu di kulkas pun masih empuk. Dan yang ultah pun suka sama kuenya katanya enak...terbukti resep eyang Martha gak salah wkwkwkwk








Begitu semua cupcakes jadi, dekor Smurf. Baru kali ini aku bikin smurf, mana banyak lagi :D. Smurfnya harus dibuat macam-macam karakter. Cari-cari di internet dapetnya di blog Siany, ijin dong...aku gak mau menyalahi aturan bakul kue. Setelah dapat izin baru kubuat, Alhamdulillah pesanan selesai, Dika senang dengan dekor dan rasa kuenya, Alhamdulillah
